THE BIGGE$T FIGHT IN HISTORY: CONCLUSION

The One

On Saturday, September 14, 2013, Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fought in front of a sold out crowd in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Walking into the ring with an entourage that included Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne, Floyd built even more hype to this already super hyped up event. In 12 beautifully fought rounds, Mayweather fought circles around Canelo for the controversial majority desicion win. The win was controversial because one of the judges C.J Ross scored the fight a draw, but most fans as well as the other judges saw Floyd consistently win every round. Maybe for argument sake, one can say Canelo won a round or two, but only because a round or two might have been close, but Floyd was the clear cut winner. Take nothing away from Canelo, he fought like a warrior, and still has many convinced that he is the future of boxing.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr

Boxing's biggest star proved at age 36, he still got it. Floyd was on his A game, he stood right in front of the charging Canelo, but like a matador, he set traps and pivoted away from danger while inflicting quick counter attacks. Mayweather beat the best fighter available for him to fight convincingly, now the question is who is next?

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez

Canelo fought a good fight, against a great fighter. Alvarez threw punches but simply couldn't land them against Mayweather's brilliant defense. The extra 15 lbs Canelo had on Floyd meant nothing because Floyd was too quick, too smart, and too good. Canelo at only 23, has many fights ahead of him and this loss will be valuable experience in the future.
