Reigning light welterweight champ Danny Garcia should fight....

Even though Danny Garcia was the reigning light welterweight champ when defending his title, he was still viewed as the underdog. As expected Lucas came charging at Garcia throwing bombs like a mad terrorist, but Garcia stayed calm, took some hard shots well and weathered the storm. As the middle rounds approached, Lucas’ shots lost a little mustard and Garcia picked up his worked rate unleashing hard effective combinations on Matthysse.  Garcia won the championship rounds, including an 11th round knockdown which secured his unanimous decision win. After beating a hard charging Lucas Matthysse to defend his title, many fans are debating who Danny should face next.

Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia

Danny Garcia has cleaned out the best of the light welterweight division, beating the likes of Zab Judah, Amir Khan, and Lucas Matthysse. The only big money fight left with real meaning in the division is against Ruslan Provodnikov. Ruslan lost a close decision against Ring Magazine`s #3 P4P fighter Tim Bradley, knocking him down in the last seconds of the 12th round and most recently stopping a very tough Mike Alvarado. The only problem is according toESPN`s Dan Rafael, Top Rank has an option on Provodnikov and considering that Garcia is promoted by  Golden Boy Promotions, this fight isn`t going to happen anytime soon.
This is a huge problem about the cold war between Top Rank and Golden Boy promotions. Both promotion companies won’t work together and both companies broadcast their fights on competing channels. The only top ten fighters that can generate interest is Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios, who is fighting Manny Pacquioa in a few weeks, and Danny can’t fight the winner of that fight because both of them are signed by Top Rank. Some fans think Garcia should get a shot at Mayweather, but Mayweather is a bigger fighter, with bigger money fights on the table and that fight doesn’t seem feasible right now. Let’s say Garcia wants to move up to welterweight, aside from Mayweather the top 4 welterweights are with Top Rank. Danny Garcia's best move is to fight the winner of Broner-Maidana. Both are dangerous, compelling bouts that fans would love.
